DefaultRank (“we”) is operated by a sole proprietor based in Japan. This policy explains what personal information we collect through defaultrank.com and how we use it. We comply with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and, for visitors in the EU/EEA and UK, the GDPR.
What we collect
- Information you submit through the free check or by email: your email address, the tool and category you asked about, and anything you write in a note.
- Request information when you visit report or snapshot pages, or submit a form: the page address, the referring website, your approximate country and your browser type. We do not store IP addresses. Our hosting provider uses your IP address briefly to deliver the site and to limit abuse.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies, and the site doesn't set cookies.
How we use it
- To send you the breakdown or measurement you asked for.
- To follow up about DefaultRank's services, for example a deeper audit. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To understand which pages are useful and to protect the site from abuse.
For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK, our legal bases are your request (to deliver what you asked for) and our legitimate interest (follow-up and site security).
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal information. We use these service providers to run DefaultRank, which may process data outside your country, including in the United States:
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, storage of submitted requests, and request logs.
- Google LLC (Google Workspace): email.
We may disclose information when required by law.
How long we keep it
Submitted requests are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. Request logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period (days to weeks).
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to stop contacting you, by emailing hello@defaultrank.com. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
